i was working on an afghan for dad’s birthday, i thought surely a one pound skein of yarn would be enough. i was about three quarters of the way through the eight square, out of twelve, when i ran out. being a no dye lot yarn i purchased four years ago, trying o match it proved to be an act of futility. so i ended up frogging it back to square one and re-knitting the entire thing. tonight i finished square eight, row eleven kicked my arse, but it’s done. i still have four more squares to go, and i may cast on square nine and get the garter rows out of the way, but right now i am whipped. at this time obama has 207 electoral votes to mccain’s 135, i would like to stay up late enough to see the results tonight, but since i have to go to work tomorrow, i may not make it. i did however get the first two strips of the afghan blocked.

and i took a few close up pics to try and demonstrate the different patterns, each strip consists of lace (freakin’ yo’s), k&p, cables, and twisted stitches.
oh and square eight? the one i ran out of yarn on? yeah, yarn over’s.
