jane austen, shopping, and free tea

it doesn’t get much better than that. i did a little bit of shopping tonight on my way home from work. i have to swaps going on right now, a winter swap and a christmas swap. the christmas swap is the easier of the two to buy for. it’s a swap on a group on ravelry and there’s no one easier to buy for than a fellow knitter. i picked up a few little goodies added some sweets and of course a little bit of yarn and it’s done.

the other swap had a theme, consumables. one automatically thinks food, but that would be ingestibles. the idea behind this swap is anything that can be used. lotions, candles, body wash. doesn’t have to be tea. i included things of this nature along with a few other things i had about the house. my swapette lives in amsterdam, so i wanted to include things she may not be able to get at home, or just things i thought she might like to have. i managed to get everything done in three stops.  tired after working all day i headed to starbucks. i picked up a few things for christmas and my purchase qualified me for a free small cup of coffee. i don’t drink coffee so they graciously allowed my to substitute hot tea.

with all my shopping done i headed home, i had only two more chapters left to go on northanger abbey. i settled in with my free cup of tea and finished off the book. it’s the shortest of all of jane’s books and it’s different from the rest of her writing. there’s no lessons of morality as with her other books. i read it in two days. it’s now my third favorite ja book, p&p. emma, northanger abbey, mansfield park and finally s&s which i actually couldn’t finish. there wre a few chapters that held a bit of mystery, and it would’ve been interesting had it gone off in that direction, but ja was not a mystery writer and the matter was quickly dropped.

my final ja book is persuasion, as with all my goals i got a bit behind schedule, but only one month in theis case, my summer of jane has moved past the fall and is now dipping into winter.
