from my backyard garden. i am limited in where i can plant flowers. i haven’t planted anything in a few years, mainly due to cost. at four dollars a gallon last summer, the price of gas prohibited adding anything to my garden. this year my goals are different and instead of putting money into the ground it has all been going on the credit cards. so basically whatever flowers return on their own, well that’s it. i chose blue salvia because it is supposed to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. unfortunately most of the other plants i planted in that area have died off and without other plants to help attract them, the past few years i haven’t seen either hummingbirds or butterflies.
positivity for today. stopped by the post office on my way home and was greeted with a smile by my favorite postal worker, mel. i live in such a small town, people get to know you, every time i walk into the post office mel asks how i’ve been and then tells me what he’s up to. it’s nice to have a friendly chat and conversation. say hello and plant a smile on someone you see frequently, maybe even get to know them a little.
